Sheffield Analytical Services is a division of the Assay Office in Sheffield, where precious metals have been analysed for well over 200 years. The laboratory is a leading authority in the testing of jewellery and fashion accessories to comply with the current EC Nickel Directive. It is also involved in medical research, mineral analysis and land contamination investigations, and operates the UK Mercury Screening Service for Dental staff, and those who work with Mercury in industrial environment. One of the first laboratories and the first Assay Office to be given UKAS accreditation.
