Beautiful Silver exhibition now open in Glasgow

04 Mar 2016

The ‘Beautiful Silver’ exhibition at The Roger Billcliffe Gallery in Glasgow that opens on Saturday 5 March features new silver collections from award winning silversmiths Jen Ricketts and Rebecca Hill.

Jen Ricketts graduated from De Montfort University in 2011 with a First Class degree in Design Crafts, followed by a post graduate residency at Bishopsland, where she had the chance to develop her intricate and stunning work. She was on the Starter Studio Programme at Yorkshire Artspace sponsored by Sheffield Assay Office from 2013-2015 and was commissioned to create a piece for the Sheffield Assay Office Collection, “Little Sheffield”. This piece is currently on display in reception at Sheffield Assay Office and will be displayed at Millennium Galleries, Sheffield from 17 September 2016. Jen’s passion is creating luxury narrative pieces – using delicately hand-pierced silver to create a visually beautiful scene.

Rebecca Hill designs and makes quirky, elegant and practical tableware: each piece is hand forged and raised in sterling silver. Her pieces are intended to enhance the dining experience by provoking conversation and interaction around the table. She draws inspiration from nature – looking at both the landscape and botanical structures, with clean lines producing the simplest of forms.

The exhibition runs from 5 to 30 March and is well worth a visit.
