Chris Heaton, Day 6 of Challenge 30.

09 Sep 2013

In the month of September the Chairman of Sheffield Assay Office, Chris Heaton, has set himself the mighty challenge to run 30 marathons in 30 days, alternating between two routes in the Lake District. He is doing this to raise awareness and much needed funds for the Brathay Trust. A UK based charity, which works with children and young people who are experiencing difficulties in their lives by engaging with them and inspiring them to help develop their personal and social skills.

On the 5th of September, (DAY 6) Chris ran the Langdale route sponsored by Sheffield Assay Office. To further support him we sent our Assay Master and Chief Executive, Ashley Carson, to tag along. Starting at the Old Dungeon Ghyll Chris, Ashley and another supporter, David Smith, set off. David managed a very respectable 10 mile run of the route; Ashley continued the run with Chris for a further 3 mile allowing Chris to complete the remaining half of the race solo, running an impressive 26.2 mile in 4 hours 55 minutes.
