Congratulations to Chairman, Chris Heaton on Completing Challenge 30

30 Sep 2013

Chairman, Chris Heaton, completing Challenge 30Throughout September, Sheffield Assay Office chairman, Chris Heaton has been tirelessly working through Challenge 30. This involved Chris completing a marathon a day for 30 days in aid if the Brathay Trust. Yesterday, Sunday 29th of September 2013 he successfully completed the final challenge!

It was decided to run the final day over the Windermere course and Chris was rewarded with a beautiful sunny day, though a little warm running, the sun was accompanied by a lovely cool breeze which helped to keep him cool. His legs must have known this was the final day and felt okay from the start. This allowed him to really go for it over the first 3 hours, after which his friend of 40 years then joined him on his push bike to offer support and chat to get him through the final miles.

In a tremendous feat of endurance and determination Chris completed the final day with his best time of 4 hours and 17 minutes, to a finish of fireworks, champagne, picnics with supporters.

The final statistics from Chris’s amazing challenge are:

Although not all funds have been recorded yet the totals monies raised is expected to be around £40,000, a fabulous £10,000 more than originally targeted.

From all at Sheffield Assay Office, we would like to say well done Chris, we are all incredibly proud of you.

On behalf of Chris and the Brathay Trust we would like to say a massive thank you to all who offered kind words of support and donations.
