Harry Brearley Stainless Steel Centenary Conference & Exhibition.

13 Jun 2013

This year, the City of Sheffield is celebrating 100 years since the invention of stainless steel in 1913. To mark this event, the University of Sheffield hosted the Harry Brearley Stainless Steel Centenary Conference & Exhibition from the 11th – 13th June 2013.

Sheffield Assay Office featured at this event on Tuesday the 11th as part of Creative Sheffield along with Museums Sheffield, Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust, Portland Works, Stuart Mitchell and Keith Tyssen.

Representing SAO was Joanne Smethurst, our Laboratory Manager, Matt Wood, our Analytical Team Leader and Emma Paragreen, the office Curator. The conference had over 400 attendees and was a great opportunity to network with delegates and promote our Tours and Talks, the work we do with mixed metal, hallmarking precious metal and the testing of stainless steel within our laboratory.
