Little Gems showcases striking work by early career designer makers from Yorkshire Artspace outside of Sheffield for the first time

This March Galvanize Sheffield: Festival of Contemporary Metal will be showcasing Little Gems, a decade of commissioned work by 22 talented early career designer makers from Yorkshire Artspace in Sheffield, at the Goldsmiths’ Centre in Clerkenwell from 23 March – 13 May 2015.

On Friday 17th April Emma Paragreen, Curator of the Sheffield Assay Office will give a talk on the current Little Gems exhibition. She will explain about the origins of the Little Gems commission and to how the collection has developed over the last ten years in partnership with Yorkshire Artspace and Museums Sheffield. Emma will be joined by Charlotte Tollyfield, and Jen Ricketts past and present Starter Studio Programme participants from Yorkshire Artspace who will be on hand to talk about their commission and their current work. 


Little gem 

Emma Paragreen said “I am delighted to be giving a talk on the Little Gems commissions; I have been privileged to work with these wonderfully talented designer silversmiths and this precious metal collection for ten years. It will be great to bring it to a new audience at The Goldsmiths’ Centre.
