Sheffield Assay Office 2018 calendar displaying a wonderful variety of jewellery and silversmithing

Sheffield Assay Office are delighted to be showcasing 12 wonderful images of precious metal showing stunning design and craftsmanship, these are all pieces of contemporary design that has passed through the Sheffield Assay Office during 2017 for assay and hallmarking.  

Since 2011 The Assay Master, Mr Ashley Carson has asked registered customers to send in images of their work. Then a final selection of 12 images is made in September, this year the office saw the largest number of entries, Ashley Carson said, “this is our way of promoting some of the fantastic creative silversmiths”.

If you wish to obtain a calendar be warned there are limited numbers, they are free of charge and are available from Customer counter at Sheffield Assay office or by emailing

Pair of botanical napkin rings    

Designed by Josephine Gomersall

Made from Sterling silver, cleavers herb also known as goosegrass can be found growing in the British hedgerow and garden, it fastens itself to adjacent shrubs, to climb its way upwards through dense undergrowth into daylight. Water jet cut, brushed hand finish.

Champagne cooler,

Made from Sterling silver, the cooler holds 12 crystal champagne flutes and 3 bottles of champagne within a wire framework, stood on a fluted detachable base.
