Supporting Talented Designers Across the Jewellery Trade

Published: 1st March 2022

As talented young designers work their way through the various stages of development, it is important for them to be able to see companies investing in their futures and offering advice. These vary from High Street Retailers, to older long established industry experts, but all with the same goal in mind, to continue the excellence of design within the UK trade. There are a number of competitions which are run annually or for a specific event in the annual calendar.

We have always supported this both locally and across the jewellery and silverware industry working closely with Sheffield University.  We will continue to nurture young talent and encourage them in their endeavours.

Platinum Jubilee Competition

Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee June 2022

To commemorate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022, the British Allied Trades Federation (BATF) is commissioning a piece of silverware to add to it’s collection.  The BATF represents around 2,500 members, predominantly small businesses designing, manufacturing and supplying jewellery, silverware and giftware.  It was started to celebrate the traditions of craftsmanship for which our industry is famous, when technological advances threatened the continuation of skills passed down through generations.

The Platinum Jubilee competition, with the theme of “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”, is open to UK based designers and silversmiths, who don’t have to a member of a trade association.  Entries must be designed and made in the UK, made of sterling silver and hallmarked with the Platinum Jubilee mark.
