A Rewarding Team Away-Day at the Races
Published: 19th September 2025
September saw the return of the famous annual St Leger Stakes at Doncaster Racecourse, a Group 1 flat horse race open to three-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies, and run over a distance of 1 mile, 6 furlongs and 115 yards. Established in 1776, the St Leger is the oldest of Britain's five Classic races. It is the last of the five to be run each year, and its distance is longer than any of the other four.
This year, as a thank you to all staff for their continued hard work and help to maintain our premium service to customers, Assay Master/CEO, Ashley Carson, closed the Assay Office for the day and rewarded the whole team to a fabulous day at the races.
Ashley said "We have such an amazing, hard working team and is was a pleasure to treat them to a day full of hospitality at the St Ledger. Everyone looked very smart in their race-day outfits and had a great time, returning to work the following Monday ready to deal with the run up to Christmas."
The Sheffield Assay Office was established in 1773, under an Act of Parliament and today the company assays and hallmarks the precious metals - silver, gold, platinum and palladium. Sheffield Assay Office is one of only four UK assay offices who all work to uphold the Hallmarking Act of 1973 and continue to ensure consumer protection for customers purchasing precious metals.
