Assay Office Staff Celebrate Sheffield at Prestigious Awards Dinner

Published: 29th July 2021

On July 21st, Assay Master Ashley Carson and senior staff here at Sheffield Assay Office were delighted to attend the prestigious 'Made in Sheffield' awards dinner.

Held in the spectacular Cutler's Hall, the evening marked the first large scale event in the city since the easing of Covid-19 restrictions. The 'Made in Sheffield' awards gives local companies the opportunity to celebrate their ongoing commitment to world class quality and excellence in manufacturing from across the city region.

Included in the Assay Master's special guests was member of the Executive Committee and Master of the Pewterers, Chris Hudson MBE. Mr Carson was delighted to have him as a special guest and a great time was had by everyone in attendance!

The Sheffield Assay Office was established in 1773, under an Act of Parliament and today the company assays and hallmarks the precious metals - silver, gold, platinum and palladium. Sheffield Assay Office is one of only four UK assay offices who all work to uphold the Hallmarking Act of 1973 and continue to ensure consumer protection for customers purchasing precious metals.
