Charles Turner MBE DL Honoured at Made in Sheffield Awards 2026

Sheffield Assay Office was proud to host a table at this year’s Made in Sheffield Awards 2026, celebrating the outstanding achievements, innovation and resilience of manufacturers and businesses across the region.

Held at Cutlers' Hall, the awards brought together leading organisations from across Sheffield and South Yorkshire to recognise excellence in manufacturing, engineering and industry. The evening highlighted the continued strength of the region’s industrial heritage and its reputation for quality, craftsmanship and innovation.

A particular highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Special Recognition Award to Charles Turner MBE DL in recognition of his outstanding contribution to championing Sheffield manufacturing and industry throughout his career.

Charles Turner recently stepped down from his role as Chair of Made in Sheffield, having played a significant role in promoting the region’s manufacturing sector and supporting the internationally recognised “Made in Sheffield” brand. A founding member of the Made in Sheffield Steering Committee, established in 2004, he has been a longstanding advocate for British manufacturing, engineering excellence and the promotion of Sheffield industry on both a regional and national level.

In addition to serving as Chairman of Sheffield Assay Office, Charles Turner has also served as Master Cutler and sits on the British Hallmarking Council. In 2020, he was awarded an MBE for services to manufacturing and business in Sheffield.

Representatives from Sheffield Assay Office were delighted to attend and support an event that reflects many of the organisation’s own values, including quality, integrity, heritage, technical excellence and continued support for UK manufacturing.

The evening also provided an excellent opportunity to celebrate the achievements of businesses across the region and strengthen relationships within Sheffield’s thriving industrial and creative community.

Congratulations to all finalists, winners and organisers involved in making this year’s Made in Sheffield Awards 2026 such a successful celebration of regional achievement.
