Goldsmiths North 2022 - A Huge Success!

Published: 15th July 2022

Goldsmiths North 2022 and Sheffield Assay Office were delighted to celebrate another successful year of the contemporary Silverware and Jewellery selling Fair at Cutlers’ Hall, Sheffield.

The Sheffield Assay Office team were delighted to be back at Goldsmiths North amongst 70 of the very best jewellers and silversmiths from UK and Europe.  It was a wonderful opportunity to speak with existing customers at the Fair and inform those who knew little of the Office about the world of assaying, hallmarking and consumer protection before they indulged into the precious metal world.

Assay Master, Ashley Carson, Quality Manager, Matthew Hawker and team members; Jordan, Ryan, Rose, Hayley, Danielle and Emma were all on hand throughout the event to answer questions from the public, showcase some of the Assay Office contemporary silver collection, undertake XRF testing and demonstrate the marking process.

It was fantastic to see the that city of Sheffield was extremely well represented at the fair for designer silversmiths and jewellers, including Colette Bishop, Chris Boland, Imogen Clarkstone, Jennie Gill, Rebecca Joselyn, Brett Payne, Jen Ricketts, Emily Thatcher, Charlotte Tollyfield and a number of the Starter Studio participants for Yorkshire Artspace.

Ashley Carson, said “Home to one of only four Assay Offices in the UK, Sheffield is the obvious choice as a setting for this prestigious event. As Assay Master, I am proud to be sponsoring Goldsmiths North."

If you missed the fair this year the date is set for Goldsmiths North 2023, Friday 7th – Sunday 9th July. We look forward to seeing you next year!

The Sheffield Assay Office was established in 1773, under an Act of Parliament and today the company assays and hallmarks the precious metals - silver, gold, platinum and palladium. Sheffield Assay Office is one of only four UK assay offices who all work to uphold the Hallmarking Act of 1973 and continue to ensure consumer protection for customers purchasing precious metals.
