Introducing Our New Head of Commercial Operations - Sara Hale

Sheffield Assay Office is pleased to announce the appointment of Sara Hale as its new Head of Commercial Operations, effective 1 December 2025.

Sara joins the organisation with more than 20 years of commercial experience within the pharmaceutical industry, where she has held leadership roles and been responsible for developing commercial strategies. Her career has involved leading cross-functional teams, supporting service development and working closely with stakeholders across complex and highly regulated environments. She is recognised for her collaborative approach, strong governance awareness and ability to align commercial activity with organisational objectives.

In her new role, Sara will contribute to the strategic development of Sheffield Assay Office’s commercial operation, including hallmarking and analytical services. She will work with internal teams and external partners to enhance service delivery, identify opportunities for sustainable growth and support the organisation’s long-term commercial direction.

The Sheffield Assay Office was established in 1773, under an Act of Parliament and today the company assays and hallmarks the precious metals - silver, gold, platinum and palladium. Sheffield Assay Office is one of only four UK assay offices who all work to uphold the Hallmarking Act of 1973 and continue to ensure consumer protection for customers purchasing precious metals.
