Jubilee Celebration Opening Times

On Wednesday 1st June, Sheffield Assay Office will be closing at 2pm in preparation for its Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
This year, Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service. To mark this unprecedented anniversary, a four day bank holiday weekend will be taking place throughout the UK from Thursday 2nd June.
Like most of the country, Sheffield Assay Office will remain closed on the 2nd and 3rd June, re-opening our doors at 8:30am on Monday 6th.
The Sheffield Assay Office was established in 1773, under an Act of Parliament and today the company assays and hallmarks the precious metals - silver, gold, platinum and palladium. Sheffield Assay Office is one of only four UK assay offices who all work to uphold the Hallmarking Act of 1973 and continue to ensure consumer protection for customers purchasing precious metals.
