Press Release: Sheffield Assay Office Appoints IBI as New Carriage Company

We are delighted to announce that with effect from 29th January, we will be providing a brand-new secure courier service in partnership with IBI International Limited.

Ashley Carson – Assay Master / Chief Executive explains; "The contract with the former secure transport provider has come to an end and it was time to examine what services were required to support Sheffield Assay Office going forward. Having previously worked with Michael Vincent, he totally understood what we required and we are able to come up with a service that no other Assay Office offers. IBI are already handling some of the most prestigious jewellery brands in the UK and this fits in very well with our current client base."

Initially we will mirror the current service being offered but will be working to increase the service during peak periods.

We have offered a secure collection and delivery service to the trade for a number of years, and it has become an important part of our overall service offer.  Also not forgetting our Analytical Services Division, as part of our bullion melt and assay service we need a fast reliable service to support the precious metal trade. IBI will certainly be able to meet their requirements.

It provides great value/benefit to our customers to keep their businesses running smoothly and efficiently without the worry of transporting their high value articles

Michael Vincent – Director of IBI said “I am absolutely delighted to have agreed a contract with Sheffield Assay Office and have known Ashley for over 20 years and totally understand both the industry and how we are able to supply the service that Sheffield Assay Office require. We are perfectly situated and are also able to handle all the requirements that Sheffield’s customer’s require including importing and customs clearance."

The Sheffield Assay Office was established in 1773, under an Act of Parliament and today the company assays and hallmarks the precious metals - silver, gold, platinum and palladium. Sheffield Assay Office is one of only four UK assay offices who all work to uphold the Hallmarking Act of 1973 and continue to ensure consumer protection for customers purchasing precious metals.
