Responsible Jewellery Council Re-certification

We are delighted to announce that Sheffield Assay Office has achieved our re-certification to the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC).  We are currently the only UK Assay Office to be a certified member, of which we are very proud.

The RJC now has over 1600 members worldwide and is the world’s leading standard setting organisation for the jewellery and watch industry.  They promote standards that underpin people’s trust in the worldwide jewellery and watch supply chain.

The RJC unites companies who have a shared belief that responsible business, without causing harm to people or the plant, is good business and that this can only be achieved by working in partnership with each other.

Here at Sheffield Assay Office, our high standards and integrity are key elements that we remain very proud of. We believe that sustainability is a journey of continuous improvement and therefore, our RJC certification is so important to the role that we play.

In being RJC accredited, we have demonstrated that standards across our business achieve the high levels required.  These cover Human Rights, Labour Rights, Health & Safety, Product Integrity and the environment and ensuring we have all the relevant policies and procedures in place across the business.

We will continue to strive forward and consider our people, environment and community in everything we do.

The Sheffield Assay Office was established in 1773, under an Act of Parliament and today the company assays and hallmarks the precious metals - silver, gold, platinum and palladium. Sheffield Assay Office is one of only four UK assay offices who all work to uphold the Hallmarking Act of 1973 and continue to ensure consumer protection for customers purchasing precious metals.
