Roxanne Guest Named New Assay Master and CEO of Birmingham Assay Office

Sheffield Assay Office welcomes the announcement that Birmingham Assay Office has appointed Roxanne Guest as its new Assay Master and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Doug Henry from 1 April 2026.

Roxanne Guest becomes the 15th Assay Master and CEO in Birmingham Assay Office’s 253-year history. Currently serving as Deputy Chief Executive, she brings extensive experience in operations, service delivery, and business transformation.

Her appointment marks an exciting new chapter for one of the UK’s historic assay offices, with a continued focus on high standards, innovation, and service to the jewellery and precious metals industries.

Doug Henry steps down after nine years of dedicated leadership, during which Birmingham Assay Office strengthened its reputation for quality, integrity, and trusted support to the trade while successfully navigating changing market conditions.

Ashley Carson said:

“We congratulate Roxanne Guest on her appointment as Assay Master and Chief Executive of Birmingham Assay Office. This is a well-deserved achievement, and we wish Roxanne every success in her new role. We also thank Doug Henry for his valued contribution to the sector over many years and look forward to continued collaboration across the UK assay offices.”

The appointment highlights the strength and continuity of leadership within the UK’s assay office network, which continues to support consumer confidence, hallmarking excellence, and the future of the jewellery trade.

The Sheffield Assay Office was established in 1773, under an Act of Parliament and today the company assays and hallmarks the precious metals - silver, gold, platinum and palladium. Sheffield Assay Office is one of only four UK assay offices who all work to uphold the Hallmarking Act of 1973 and continue to ensure consumer protection for customers purchasing precious metals.
