The Sun Shone Bright on Sheffield's Half Yearly Guardian's Meeting
Published: 2nd May 2025
Last week saw our dedicated Guardians gather here at Sheffield Assay Office for the Half Yearly Meeting of the Guardians of the Standard of Wrought Plate in the Town of Sheffield.
Assay Master, Ashley Carson, was delighted to be able to display his new drone-flying skills and take advantage of the lovely weather to take a group photo of our Guardians.
Sheffield Assay Office hold two Guardian meetings per year, with the Half Yearly in April and the Annual General Meeting held in October. This is a great opportunity for our Guardians to catch up with the Assay Office's operations and results over the past six months, and to offer the benefit of their considerable industry and business experience to help steer our future development.

The Sheffield Assay Office was established in 1773, under an Act of Parliament and today the company assays and hallmarks the precious metals - silver, gold, platinum and palladium. Sheffield Assay Office is one of only four UK assay offices who all work to uphold the Hallmarking Act of 1973 and continue to ensure consumer protection for customers purchasing precious metals.
