UKAS Director Visits Sheffield Assay Office

UKAS Commercial Director, Mark Bohun, recently visited Sheffield Assay Office to celebrate the 40th anniversary of our accreditation to ISO 17025.

Sheffield Assay Office gained accreditation from UKAS (formerly NATLAS and NAMAS) on 10th September 1982 and were the only 12th laboratory in the country to do so. This gives us the number 0012 below our UKAS logo. We are thrilled to have maintained this accreditation for an incredible 40 years!

The UKAS symbol signifies that a truly independent evaluation has been conducted of the competence, impartiality and performance capability of the accredited organisation. This delivers confidence in of the quality of the products or services being provided.

Following a tour of the Hallmarking and Analytical Services facilities, Mark presented the team with their certificate of accreditation.

Assay Master Ashley Carson, Quality Manager Matthew Hawker, Head of Analytical Services Belen Morales and Senior Analyst Rachel Patterson were delighted to welcome Mark and show him how Sheffield Assay Office have developed the laboratory over the last 40 years.

From its origins supporting the Hallmarking process with traditional fire assay and potentiometric titration, to now offering a wide array of specialist Analytical Services to many sectors including the steel and medical industries, UKAS accreditation is key to our ongoing success.
