Way back in July 2023, The Hawley Tool Collection filmed a series of knives, featuring pieces from their own collection as well as items on loan from Sheffield Museums Trust and Sheffield Assay Office. Watch the videos here.

We are delighted to announce that, with effect from 29th January, we will be providing a brand-new secure courier service in partnership with IBI International Limited.

As part of our 250th anniversary celebrations, the Sheffield Assay Office Executive and Guardians agreed to a number of new commissions for our special collection. One of these comissions, a beautiful hand chased teapot by Christopher Perry, was the first item to be hallmarked at Sheffield Assay Office in 2024.

The annual Mary Parsons charity service took place at Sheffield Cathedral on December 27th. It was wonderful to see so many representative of the trade attend the service, along with the charity's beneficiaries.

It's been a busy year of celebrations at Sheffield Assay Office and December was no exception! Our Guardians’ of the Standard of Wrought Plate were delighted to join Law Clerk Matthew Sibley and Master Cutler Charles Turner at the recent Freemen’s Dinner at Cutlers’ Hall.

As the current Silver Fellows at Yorkshire Artspace, Morvarid Alavifard and Shinta Nakajima both receive free registration and hallmarking with us here at Sheffield Assay Office. Earlier this month, we were delighted to have them visit us for a behind the scenes tour of our state of the art premises.

Earlier in the year, the Sheffield Assay Office team started to collect Christmas tree decorations and we are delighted that our festive decorations now showcase the work of local silversmiths Rebecca Joseyln, Ben Ryan, Charlotte Tolleyfield and Jen Ricketts.

Sheffield Assay Office were delighted to attend the Benevolent Society Ball on Thursday the 7th of December at The Grand Hotel in Birmingham.
