As we head towards another Christmas season, whilst there is a lot happening in day to day lives, there is also a lot happening within the jewellery industry. With many companies launching new ranges, becoming more sustainable where possible and telling their stories, we wanted to share how the jewellery industry is adapting to change.

The team here at Sheffield Assay Office were delighted and honoured to welcome the new Sheriff of the City of London, Andrew Marsden to witness the assay and hallmarking of his Shrieval Chain and Badge of Office.

The Elements Festival of Jewellery, Silver and Gold is returning to the stunning showroom of Lyon & Turnbull in Edinburgh from the 28-30 October 2022. We are delighted to see some Sheffield makers showcasing their work at this year's event!

In 2023, the Sheffield Assay Office will be celebrating its 250th anniversary! In honour of this, we have decided to reinstate the Sheffield Assay Office Calendar.

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved our re-certification to the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC). We are very proud to be the only UK Assay Office currently to be a certified member.

Throughout September, Sheffield Assay Office staff have been raising funds for Cavendish Cancer Care by taking part in this year's Master Cutlers Challenge.

On the 27th September, our Curator, Emma Paragreen will holding a lunchtime talk at Sheffield's Millennium Gallery to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Precious Little Gems annual commission.
