Sheffield Assay Office are proud to be sponsoring The Goldsmiths' Craft & Design Competition in 2023. The awards promote excellence in design and craftmanship within the jewellery, goldsmithing and silversmithing industry and applications are now open!

The team here at Sheffield Assay Office would like to say thank you and farewell to Pam Liversidge and Chris Hudson, who are both retiring as members of our Executive Committee as well as The Guardians of the Standard of Wrought Plate.

Sheffield Assay Office was delighted to host the Striking Futures Event with the National Association of Jewellers on November 3rd. This is the first of it’s kind and aimed to bring together NAJ members and non members, students and staff from Sheffield Hallam University, as well as current and potential customers.

2023 will mark the 250th anniversary of the Sheffield Assay Office and what better way to mark this occasion than to highlight and promote the work of a few of our talented silversmiths and jewellers.

The annual Mary Parsons Charity service will take place on Tuesday 27th December at Sheffield Cathedral - we would love to see you there to help us give thanks to the silversmiths of the City.

The inaugural Striking Futures event proved a big success for all those in attendance. On Thursday 3rd November, here at Sheffield Assay Office, the event delivered expert speakers and valuable networking opportunities designed to boost careers in the jewellery sector. 

A routine Trading Standards inspection has resulted in the prosecution of a Manchester business which sold potentially toxic jewellery products.

The laboratory grown diamond continues to grow globally, with many different companies now offering both natural and lab grown collections.  These organisations understand that to capture as much of the market as possible they have to ensure they are catering to all possible needs of the consumer.
