The HALO (Hallmarking Awareness and Learning Online) Award 2024 was launched by the British Hallmarking Council in early June. This is the third year of the award which has gathered considerable momentum with many entrants demonstrating extremely creative and novel ways to interest customers in hallmarks.

Since the Goldsmith's Craft & Design Council's Awards were held in March 2024, many of the award winning pieces have featured in shows and exhibitions up and down the country, including work by Ben Ryan for his 250th anniversary dish and Shinta Nakajima for his chased Acanthus sculpture. Ben and Shinta have also displayed work at Goldsmiths North, Sheffield which was very well received.

Silversmiths Colette Bishop, Shinta Nakajima, Morvarid Alavifar from Yorkshire Artspace and Curator Emma Paragreen from Sheffield Assay Office met with The Silver Society on Thursday 11th July for a curator led tour of the 250th anniversary exhibition ‘Sheffield Assay Office: 250 years of lasting impressions.

The NAJ’s Annual General meeting at the iconic Tower of London marked the launch of the HALO (Hallmarking Awareness and Learning Online) Award as it returns for a third year. The HALO Award is supported by the British Hallmarking Council and the NAJ. Its objective is to encourage and reward promotion of the importance of the hallmark to all consumers browsing and buying fine jewellery or silverware online.
