After a flurry of opportunities to win a Jewellery Industry Award during the summer there is still one more Award open for entries and that is the HALO Award for promoting Hallmarking Awareness and Learning Online.  Sponsored by the British Hallmarking Council (BHC) and National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) HALO is in its third year and has attracted some excellent entries so far.

Promotion of the Award was halted after its prestigious trade launch at the Tower of London in June as the BHC , a government body, are prevented from Press activity during a General Election.  The closing date for the HALO Award has now been extended until Sunday October 6th to give more businesses a chance to enter.

On Sunday the 1st of September the Professional Jeweller Awards took place at the De Vere Grand Connaught in London where professionals from all across the industry came together to network and celebrate all those companies and individuals that had been shortlisted and won the awards for 2024.

On Friday 13th September at Sheffield Town Hall, Curator and Librarian Emma Paragreen joined Sheffield City Council's Heritage Champion and Councillor Janet Riddler to showcase Sheffield's Civic Silver.

The Betfred St Leger Stakes Winners Trophy 2024 was designed and made by award-winning Silversmith Colette Bishop who is based at Yorkshire Artspace in Sheffield and who also works for us here at Sheffield Assay Office.

On 10th September 2024 our Facilities Manager, Andy Gaymond, celebrated his 40th Anniversary of working here at Sheffield Assay Office.

This year the Benevolent Society celebrates its 100th Anniversary, and the National Association of Jewellers Educational Trust is celebrating its 30th Anniversary. To commemorate these events, a silver design competition was launched on 22nd July 2024.

Following the success of the first  ACQUIRE in 2023,  we are delighted to announce the second year of this annual Jewellery and Silverware Selling Event in 2024, taking place in the historic town centre of Harrogate. This premier event will showcase the artistry of contemporary fine jewellery and silverware across the elegant rooms of The Crown Hotel, offering a unique opportunity for artisans to present their work to discerning buyers.
