Sheffield Assay Office recently visited the Goldsmiths’ Centre to judge the 2D Hand Rendering Award, a Special Award sponsored by the Office as part of the Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council Awards.

Sheffield Assay Office (SAO) recently hosted a British Manufacturing Consortium (BMC) meeting, welcoming 20 delegates from across a wide range of manufacturing sectors and providing us with a valuable opportunity to engage with manufacturers and demonstrate the role of high-quality analytical testing in supporting quality, compliance, and performance.

During the course of the Tudor Rose operation, nine retailers trading in high-value 22ct gold were identified as advertising and selling thousands of un-hallmarked items. These cases are now subject to investigation and review by Trading Standards and Sheffield Assay Office, with the aim of bringing those businesses fully into compliance.

Sheffield Analytical Services (SAS), a division of Sheffield Assay Office, has recently acquired a second Inductively Coupled Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS) instrument to satisfy the increased demand for elemental trace analysis of nickel, cobalt and ferroalloys alloys, precious metal, jewellery articles, medical devices, cosmetic and beauty products.
