As part of our 250th anniversary celebrations, the Sheffield Assay Office Executive and Guardians agreed to a number of new commissions for our special collection. One of these comissions, a beautiful hand chased teapot by Christopher Perry, was the first item to be hallmarked at Sheffield Assay Office in 2024.
Annual Mary Parsons Service Celebrates Sheffield Silversmiths

The annual Mary Parsons charity service took place at Sheffield Cathedral on December 27th. It was wonderful to see so many representative of the trade attend the service, along with the charity's beneficiaries.

It's been a busy year of celebrations at Sheffield Assay Office and December was no exception! Our Guardians’ of the Standard of Wrought Plate were delighted to join Law Clerk Matthew Sibley and Master Cutler Charles Turner at the recent Freemen’s Dinner at Cutlers’ Hall.
Yorkshire Artspace's Silver Fellows Visit Sheffield Assay Office

As the current Silver Fellows at Yorkshire Artspace, Morvarid Alavifard and Shinta Nakajima both receive free registration and hallmarking with us here at Sheffield Assay Office. Earlier this month, we were delighted to have them visit us for a behind the scenes tour of our state of the art premises.

Two jewellery businesses with an emphasis on creating bespoke commissions are the joint winners of the HALO Award 2023. The British Hallmarking Council were delighted to present the Award to Harriet Kelsall, founder of Harriet Kelsall Bespoke Jewellery company and Anna Mcloughlin of Anna Mcloughlin Fine Jewellery at the prestigious Benevolent Society Ball at the Grand Hotel, Birmingham.

We are pleased to announce that our Early Hall Service has today been reinstated and is once again fully operational.

Due to a high volume of work, we are temporarily suspending our Early Hall service. This will be reviewed on 1st December and will hopefully be re-introduced in the final few weeks leading up to Christmas. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
