The Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council (GC&DC) are delighted to announce the launch of the 2023/24 Goldsmiths’ competition for all those engaged in jewellery, silversmithing, smallwork & the allied trades.

Following the sad passing of Christopher William Sellors, his family recently organised a Celebration of Life that took place at Carsington, Derbyshire, the site of their new project which is expected to open in Spring 2024.

The Analytical Services division of Sheffield Assay Office were delighted to exhibit at the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber Manufacturing Supply Chain Exhibition that took place recently at Barnsley Metrodome.

Sheffield Assay Office was founded in 1773 and we were delighted to be able to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the date the first mark was struck in the City of Sheffield, with a spectacular gala dinner on the September 20th 2023.

The Betfred St Leger Stakes Trophy 2023 was designed and made by award-winning Silversmith Alice Fry, who is based in The Sculpture Lounge studios in Holmfirth. The trophy was also designed in partnership with Sheffield Silversmiths Chris Knight and Chris Perry.

The team at Sheffield Assay Office have been busy behind the scenes for months working with Silversmiths Colette Bishop and Shinta Nakajima to create new works of art in honour of our 250th anniversary.

Running until 10th March 2024, a new display in the Sykes Gallery Metalwork Collection tells the story of Sheffield Assay Office, established in 1773 and one of only four remaining Assay Offices in the UK.

To celebrate the 250th anniversary of Sheffield Assay Office, Assay Master Ashley Carson treated all staff to a special day out at Doncaster Races during St Ledger week.
