Proud Members of the RJC

Responsible Business is Good Business

The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) is the world’s leading standard-setting organization for the jewellery and watch industry.  It was founded in 2005 by 14 member organisations across the jewellery supply chain from mine to retail.

Today, there are over 1,450 members, covering companies of all shapes and sizes across the global jewellery and watch supply chain.

Sheffield Assay Office is proud to be a member of the RJC amongst such an elite group of companies.  We are the only UK Assay Office to be certified members, and we believe as do all members, that what unites us is our shared belief is that responsible business is good business, without causing harm to people or the planet.  We are enhancing trust in the global jewellery industry and underpinning its future so that people continue to hold jewellery close to their hearts for centuries to come.

The RJC accreditation covers core responsible business practices elements such as, general regulatory compliance, responsible supply chains, human rights and due diligence, labour rights and working conditions, health, safety and environmental performance, product disclosure and responsible mining.

Upholding these practices is something that we are continually striving for here at Sheffield Assay Office, to keep us at the forefront of the industry, and working with the local community and the industry as a whole.
